The Short Story.... In 2014 after finishing my internship at several recovery centers around San Diego; I realized there was a void in the system in treating this disease for individuals in recovery. Medical science refers to addiction as a "chronic relapsing brain disease". When I first started CFR and set it up as a nonprofit with the State of California, it was my hope that we could generate the necessary funds to hire the staff we needed in order to help the individuals that needed extra support to stay sober. My goal was for these funds to cover their labs and corrective supplements; counseling and trauma recovery, dietary coaching, physical fitness coaching, and a unique re-employment program, as well as day to day operating expenses.
Unfortunately, like so many other non-profits, we were not able to generate the funds necessary to grow. The concept was great - but my execution wasn't strong enough. I would love to find someone that has the skill, connections, time, energy, education and finances to take my idea and build it for the benefit of the under-served in our community. If you are reading this and are that person - please contact me and let's chat.
To this day, I still feel there is a powerful need for CFR's uniquely designed re-employment program. It was designed to reduce the chronic relapse due to the stress of employment and the lack of meaningful employment. For the Re-Employment program to happen we need employers that are willing to hire our clients and work with us when they are having an issue with the individual, rather than write them up or terminate them due to sobriety issues. If you are reading this and are that person - please contact me and let's chat.
If you wish to discuss any of the above, please call and leave a message at: 760-415-4129 - I will call you back just as soon as I am able to do so.
